Small talk in Danish 101
Learn how you can join casual conversations in Danish… even if you are not fluent!
Training begins April 27th 2022 at 17.00-19.00
Does this sound like you...?
You're probably at a module 2 or 3 level or have a similar Danish level (lower intermediate). You know some Danish but find it hard to start practicing outside the classroom, yet alone engage in casual conversations with colleagues over lunch or with your Danish family and friends.
- You often feel insecure when you're trying to talk to with your colleagues over lunch...
- You find it hard to speak your mind - and just say what you want to say - without always searching for the words...
- You wish your Danish friends or family could get to know the real you. That person who also has things to add to the conversation.
- You sometimes feel left out - or even isolated - when seeing the others laughing over jokes or having vivid discussions.
- You feel stupid when you just sit there and you're tired of how you often end up NOT saying anything at all.
- Long story short... You really want to be part of the conversation - but you just don't know how to.

Here’s what previous participants say about the training

Finally a practical, affordable and useful course!
What I liked best about the training was “Kick off the conversation”: Just practically explained how to start a conversation and the options for it.
Since completing the training I know how to use the correct words to start a conversation. And how to pronounce them.
What has exceeded my expectations since working with Sigga is that she has a nice, clear and pleasant way of explaining things. Also the nicely detailed and graphical workbook looks clear. It's really worth the money! And also the extra exercises, a big thank you for all this!

I liked the real life examples and all the tips she gives
I had been struggling sometimes to answer people and to be polite in Danish so I wanted to learn more small talk in Danish.
The thing I liked most about the Danish small talk workshop were the real life examples and having exercises.
It might sound weird, but I am a designer and I also liked the presentation she made - the design was simple and appealing and it is important to me not to be distracted by bad design during a workshop :D
I would for sure recommend working with Sigga as she seems to be a nice person and teacher and because of her approach and all the tips that she gives.

Very professional workshop and useful content
Before I signed up for the workshop, I have had problems getting the right words and responses during conversations with Danes and sometimes got stuck with finding the right words and then switched to English.
Since the training I’m more familiar with some phrases but still need to revise and keep working more to use it.
What exceeded my expectations with the workshop is how professional it was and I would definitely recommend it to others as Sigga is very professional and friendly and always covers relatable and useful content.
What’s in the training
When you invest in cracking the code to how YOU can start small talking in Danish, you can look forward to 120 minutes of practical and "go-out-and-apply-them-straight-away" words and expressions, delivered to you by a top-motivated teacher. This is what you'll learn:
1
Part 1: The Ultimate Danish Small Talk Topic ABC
The topics the Danes small talk about are not rocket science. But it's always good to know which topics Danes like to small talk about - and which topics you definitely should stay clear of!
Why not stay on a good terms with the Danes, now that you're here anyway ;)
We therefore start the training by getting a quick overview of the most common Danish small talk topics.
2
Part 2: Kick off the conversation
Now you know which topics to small talk about. But how exactly do you do that?
In part 2, you'll learn practical and commonly used words and expressions you can use to start the conversation - even if you're not fluent in Danish!
You'll learn useful words and expressions to: Tell how you are, what you've experienced, how to show attention to others, how to talk about a current topic or event and how to bring up a previously discussed topic.
Learning these words and expressions is the essential foundation of all small talk in Danish!
3
Part 3: Show'em you're all ears
When the other person is talking, you listen, right? Yes - and no. The thing is, you can't just stand there like a stiff board. You need to actively let the other person know that you're listening.
When we're listening to someone talking, we express that we understood, that we sympathize, agree or disagree, we express surprise or shock, etc. All by using a whole array of specific words, sounds, exclamations and fixed expressions.
Learning some of the most common Danish feedback words and expressions, you'll find it easier to small talk in Danish - plus, you'll wow the Danes when you burst out with Danish insider expressions such as "Hold da op!" or "Ej, hvor surt!"
4
Part 4: Small Talk dialogue workshop
At the second part of the workshop, we'll put into practice what we just learned. In small breakout rooms, you'll practice smalltalking in pairs - your teacher will check up on all pairs, answer questions and give feedback. At the end of the workshop, there'll be presentations where you and your partner can present your dialogue for the whole group and get personal feedback from your teacher.
You'll get a chance to put the newly acquired knowledge into practice - which is essential if you want to remember the new words - and to start using them in your actual IRL casual conversations with the Danes in your life!
Bonuses
But wait! That's not all! When you sign up for Small Talk in Danish 101 you'll get these bonuses - on top of everything else!
A workbook
When you sign up for this online training, you'll also get a workbook.
The workbook, which will be a downloadable pdf, will contain the essential teachings from the training: examples of the most typical small talk expressions and dialogue examples.
The workbook will also come with exercises and answers so that you practice and consolidate what you learned in the training.
Knowing something is great, but being able to do something is what we want!
'Show'em You're All Ears' Cheat Sheet
We only have so much time during the training to help you not seem like a stiff (and not interested) listener, so as an extra bonus for you, I'll give you a whole 2 page cheat sheet full of practical - and super typical - Danish words and expressions you can use to let the person who's talking to you know that you're all ears.
Learn the secret small words that the Danes use all the time, like: "Nå!" or "Præcis!" or "Nææ", along with a translation of the meaning(s) and with examples of how to use them.
You'll never seem stiff (and not interested) again!
Lots of dialogue examples
Learning what to say is not enough. You also need to see the words and expressions you've learned in practice.
That's why I've collected lots of dialogue examples, covering different conversation topics, to help give you a much better idea how you can use the words and formulas you learn at the live training.
